Rafael da Silva may return to the Premier League with West Ham

There is news that West Ham may make a move for former Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva during the summer.

Indeed, the Hammers are keen to strengthen the team ahead of an exciting season that will see them move to the Olympic Stadium.

Rafael da Silva currently plays for French club Lyon after his move from Manchester United and might favor a return to the English Premier League.

Although West Ham has been exciting when attacking last season, they have been quite weak defensively and the manager, SlavenBilic will be willing to strengthen this area ahead of the new season. He believes that Rafael da Silva is a quality player that will definitely bring experience and some energy to a backline that has appeared lethargic at times last season. Indeed, Rafael da Silva has made 169 appearances for Manchester United and scored 5 goals for them. He has plenty of Premier League and European experience that will definitely be helpful for West Ham.

SlavenBilic has had a successful season as the manager of West Ham and will want more of the same next season. However it will all depend on how he strengthens the team and whether Dimitri Payet will stay in London. The French midfielder has been instrumental for West Ham last season and losing a player of this caliber and be costly for West Ham. Most pundits believed that we will have to wait for the end of Euros to find out which big sides might be interested in signing the French midfielder.

At the moment, Billic will want to believe that Payet will stay at the club next season and that signing a defender like Rafael da Silva will help them getting closer to being a top side.
