Istanbul Basaksehir defender Rafael da Silva is still hopeful that he can make a return to Manchester United in the future as he still wants to play for the Red Devils again. Rafael da Silva talked about Manchester United as a guest appearance on MUTV Group Chat last year. According to him, he still has lots of love for Manchester United and the supporters. Rafael da Silva was a cult hero amongst the Manchester United supporters when he was at Old Trafford until the Brazilian had to leave because of then manager Louis Van Gaal.
The Dutch tactician has history with Brazilian players as he’s known for not using them properly and it proved to be the same with Rafael da Silva who was left out of the Manchester United team under Louis Van Gaal on several occasions. He had to end his almost nine-year stay at Old Trafford in search of regular first team football and he got that at Lyon whom he joined in the summer of 2015.
When asked about Manchester United and his memories about the club, Rafael da Silva said that he still received messages from the Manchester United supporters and that he still remembers his time at Manchester United like it was one or two years that he left the club to sign for French giants Lyon. For his best moment as a Manchester United player, Rafael da Silva said winning league title number 19 and surpassing the record held by arch rivals Liverpool was certainly his best moment in the colours of the Red Devils.
On his best goal for the Red Devils, Rafael da Silva said his left-footed strike against Arsenal was his first goal for the club and that it was a special moment for him. Rafael da Silva joined Manchester United from Fluminense in the Brazilian league at the start of 2007 alongside his twin brother Fabio da Silva.
