Rafael Da Silva will miss another Premier League

Rafael Da Silva will miss yet another Premier League match after being ruled out of the home match against Stoke City.

The Brazilian defender has been unable to feature for United since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea towards the end of October. He has been plagued by injury problems this campaign, like many other United players, and he has featured in only six league matches this campaign. The absence of the Brazilian has forced manager Louis Van Gaal into utilising midfielder Antonio Valencia in a right back position. This has compromised the defensive stability of the team to a certain extent.

It was after the 24-year-old’s return that United started going on an improved run of form. Rafael is unlikely to struggle to get back into the team even though Van Gaal appears to be on the cusp of hitting the right form. United have managed to win three matches on the bounce before they take on Stoke. Mark Hughes’ team will be coming on the back of three consecutive defeats with the most recent coming in an away match against Liverpool. United having been able to avoid defeat at Old Trafford since the opening day of the season, and they are overwhelming favourites to get three points in the midweek Premier league action.

Another injury problems for the club include the likes of Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, and Radamel Falcao. Luke Shaw was the latest addition after suffering an injury during the 2-0 win over Arsenal. Van Gaal confirmed that the England international faces at least a few weeks on the sidelines. A positive for the club will be the return of Marcos Rojo. The Argentine featured in the comfortable win over Hull City. He was only two of the specialised defenders in the starting line-up, as United grabbed a comfortable 3-0 victory.
