Rafael da Silva ends his 8 year association with Manchester United

Rafael da Silva’s time in Old Trafford has reached it’s end as the Brazilian defender completed his move from Manchester United to Lyon on August of 2015.

The time that Rafael da Silva spent in England wasn’t the most impressive as he was plagued with a number of injuries which kept him out of the pitch for a significantly long period of time and even when Rafael da Silva was fit and ready to play, he struggled to get consistent playing time.

The Brazilian defender has a playing style which is characterized for his offensive qualities which helped Manchester United in moving upfront and aid in the attacking lines of the Premier League of the English club which was good in some ways but taking into consideration that Rafael da Silva’s position is in the right-back spot, it was a huge risk.

On May of 2013, Sir. Alex Ferguson announced that he was going to retire from coaching and this news was a huge blow for Manchester United as the Premier League club to this day still hasn’t been able to find someone who can properly replace him but the retirement of the Scottish man was an even bigger hit for Rafael da Silva as the Brazilian player was a constant starter with Ferguson but Rafael da Silva started to take up a place in the sidelines of Old Trafford when the next managers arrived.

Neither David Moyes or Louis van Gaal were big fans of Rafael da Silva and left the Brazilian defender for a considerably long period of time on the sidelines which made things much more difficult for the Brazilian as he witnessed the majority of his career in Old Trafford being wasted away in the bench but he is hoping that it will change after penning a 4 year deal with the French side Lyon.
