Manchester United right back Rafael Da Silva has stated that his teammates should be display quality when they take on Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Old Trafford. United had been given a formidable draw in their hopes of winning the Champions League.
This is the first season at the club for manager David Moyes and he has been struggling a lot to maintain their winning ways of Sir Alex Ferguson. However, Champions League has been one competition were they have been looking at least half decent this season.
They have already beaten one German outfit in the form of Bayern Leverkusen. However, Bayern Munich will represent the first test of all since they come into the match as the holders. Further, the arrival of Guardiola has strengthened them even further. They have already won the Bundesliga title, but Rafael Da Silva believes that United can show their quality on the night and surprise the Germans. United players have been speaking a lot about the magic at Old Trafford on European nights, but this ground has seen several defeats already this campaign.
The likes of West Brom and big teams like Liverpool have got away with comprehensive wins and there is a fear that United may suffered yet another thrashing at the hands of a big opponent.
“It’s a very important tournament for us. Everyone knows it’s hard, that’s why I am saying we have to play with real quality. We have to show everyone what we are capable of and get a good result,” said Rafael Da Silva, who missed training ahead of this key match. However, he is expected to take part in the encounter. If not, Moyes will have to use either Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in this position. United come into the match after beating Aston Villa 4-1 on Saturday.
